It is an honor to serve as your City Councilwoman representing the Seventh Council District, made up of residents who care deeply about their neighborhoods. From building new parks, repairing sidewalks, bringing in cultural celebrations, to putting more officers on our streets, this year has been nothing short of exciting. As the first Latina and first woman in fourteen years to serve as Chair of the City’s Public Safety Committee, I have the incredible responsibility to oversee nearly two-thirds of the City’s budget and ensure that all of our communities receive the public safety resources they deserve.

This year, I’ve secured $26 million in capital and public service investments, led the City’s enforcement efforts on combating illegal cannabis, launched a package of services to support homeless families (resulting in a 28% decrease in homelessness in the 7th District), delivered on new parks and recreation facilities across the District, and adopted a $10.5 billion budget, the largest in the City’s history. I will continue fighting for our neighborhoods to improve the quality of life and bring new resources to our community. Progress can be accelerated with collaboration and strong partnerships, and I look forward to our continued work together to ensure our neighborhoods achieve their greatest potential.
