Improving Our Sidewalks

Safer sidewalks are coming to the 7th Council District. The City’s new sidewalk repair program, Safe Sidewalks LA, will invest a historic $1.4 billion over 30 years to make sidewalks more accessible to everyone.
Have broken sidewalk in your neighborhood? Here are three ways to request sidewalk repairs:
- Access Request Program: The Access Request Program makes repairs requested by/for people with a mobility disability who encounter physical barriers such as broken sidewalks, missing/broken curb ramps or other barriers in the public right of way.
- Rebate Program: The City is also offering a limited-time rebate to property owners willing to pay for their own sidewalk repair through the Rebate Program.
- Report a Sidewalk Problem: To report any other sidewalk issue, go to Report a Sidewalk Problem.

Addressing Illegally Parked Commercial Vehicles
This week, my team assisted in the citing and towing of several illegally parked commercial vehicles, such as cranes and big rig trucks, across the district. Vehicles exceeding 22 feet in length are not allowed to park in residential areas, and are prohibited from parking for more than three hours in all other areas in the City.
If commercial vehicles are violating these restrictions, please call Parking Enforcement Dispatch (818-374-4823) as a “Commercial in Residential” violation and provide the license plate number and address where the rig is parked. If the big rig continues to stay parked on City streets following citations or for a lengthy period of time, call 1-800-ABANDON. After marking the wheels and citing, Parking Enforcement can initiate the process to have it towed.
Supporting Local Property Managers
Last week, I hosted a my first Quarterly North Hills Property Manager meeting. We brought together dozens of property managers for a day of networking and sharing City resources with the Los Angeles Sanitation, Republic Waste Hauler, the San Fernando Valley Partnership, and the Los Angeles Police Department. I look forward to our continued partnership with local property managers to better serve our residents and tenants in the 7th District.
